Nancy has worked for some of the biggest law firms in New York City, including Ropes & Gray and Hughes, Hubbard & Reed, LLC. Knowing that lawyers are very touchy about wording, Nancy completed the Moritz Legal and Financial Proofreading course, at which she excelled, to ensure that legal documents are letter-perfect after she proofs them.
The Proofreading Maven is also adept at checking EDGAR text for financial institutions, when they are submitting documents to the SEC. It is essential that all your numbers are correct from one draft to the next!

Nancy is fluent in French, and conversant in Spanish and German, as well as being familiar with basic Arabic, in case there are any words or phrases that apply in your document.
Because of her extensive experience, she is also quite comfortable with the Latin phrases commonly used by law firms.
Nancy Hoffmann's Expertise:
As the granddaughter of a former Editor of the Chicago Daily News, Nancy Hoffmann grew up proofreading everything around her. Later, she acquired a Masters in Education and taught spelling and grammar to fourth and fifth graders.
In advertising, she had a 5-year career as an ad agency copywriter, plus many years doing print and web design. At ad agencies, she has often freelanced as a design proofreader, checking layouts for correct alignment and style, as well as proofreading and editing copy.
English is a passion for her, and she takes spelling and grammar very seriously!
